Eugene E. Batesole, 93 years, of Toledo, OH passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 in his home. A railroad clerk for Detroit and Toledo Shore Line, he retired in 1983 after 33 years.
The son of Garnet and Marie (Hopkins) Batesole he was born December 5, 1922 in Toledo. Eugene was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. October 14, 1950 he married Mary Rose Grosschedl in Sacred Heart Church in Toledo.
One of the best and a real down to earth person, Eugene was the guy that was always fun to be around. He was warm, witty, engaging and could make people laugh. He enjoyed sharing his stories about the railroad days. Eugene loved model railroading and target shooting. He was an avid member of The Southern Michigan Sportsmen’s Club and the NRA.
A loving husband and father, he is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary; daughters, Mary Davis, Betty (Charlie) Miller; niece, Bonnie and special friend and neighbor Karena, who had been so loving and caring.
He was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, Linda, Bryan, Julie; brother, Jack; and sister, Helen.
Visitation will be Friday, January 15, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where Military Honors will be conducted Friday at 4:30 p.m. by Lambertville VFW Post #9656. Cremation will follow.
