William LeRoy Grosteffon, 83 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 in his daughter’s home in Luna Pier, MI. The youngest foreman in history, he worked for D.T.& I. Railroad, retiring in 1988 after 39 years. He loved the railroad and was always willing to work 24/7. The son of LeRoy W. and Leona M. (Worrell) Grosteffon he was born July 15, 1931 in Monroe, MI. February 3, 1951 he married Magdalene Kasprzak in Lambertville.
William was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. His family was his life; he loved to joke and laugh. He spent many summer and fall days up north fishing and looking at the beautiful scenery.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Magdalene; daughters, Leona Grosteffon, Patricia Evers; and cousin, Dan (Shelly) Ditty; 8 grandchildren, Scott (Sierra), Patricia (Mike), Stephanie, Stephen (Andrea), Brad (Jennifer), Matt (Brandy), Greg (Julie), Rick (Janette); 25 great-grandchildren, Scotty Jr., Steffen, Max, Miami, Jessica, Mikki, Bobbi, Annabelle, Skot, Cody, Taylor, Dalton ,Angela, Olivia, Shane, Austin, Will, Cole, Ricky (Brittany), Joseph, Jocelyn, Angelo, Arianna, Faith, Blake; and 6 great-great-grandchildren, Amaylah, TJ, Alex, Ryan, Hazel, and Scarlette.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Billie Smith and son-in-law, Stephen Evers.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 4 PM until 8 PM and Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 2 PM until 8 PM in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where the Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 1 PM.
